With the need to deliver multi-country brand-building across very different African countries and cultures, we found the common denominator: The Connection. We worked to engage with media and key influencers to raise awareness about how satellites connect the unconnected and enable economic development.
We developed a media and stakeholder engagement strategy with SES to overcome the key challenges of limited brand awareness in a price-conscious market where SES was seen as a premium-priced operator. Working closely with our affiliates and partners in Kenya, Senegal, Nigeria, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Zambia, Niger, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Burkina Faso and Benin, together we drove in-country activities.
The annual communications strategy, content and coordination were all driven from South Africa.
Did Our Connection Work? It did. SES media coverage in Africa was positive and our key messaging was included in 98% of all articles. 220+ pieces of coverage in top tier media – target exceeded by 314%.
