Francisco Carvalho is President, Latin America for BCW, responsible for Latin America’s largest, wholly-owned integrated communications agency. He has had a thriving career in corporate communications, with more than 35 years of experience across journalism, advertising and public relations, with expertise in developing and executing corporate reputation strategies, as well as brand positioning, public affairs and crisis management, and integrated communications programs for B2B and B2C clients.
Prior to his role within BCW, Francisco served two stints with Burson-Marsteller, most recently leading the firm’s São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Brasília offices since 2005 and growing the agency’s business under very challenging political and economic conditions. In addition to structuring teams, providing strategic consulting, and executing communications projects for a variety of clients, he led the rollout of Burson-Marsteller’s integrated planning process in the region. Throughout more than 11 years under his leadership, the agency won several awards, including the SABRE Awards, Aberje Awards and POP Awards.
Before rejoining Burson-Marsteller, Francisco was Corporate Communications Director for GTECH, where he developed strategic communications programs, a broad stakeholder engagement program. He was Corporate Communications Director at McDonald’s, where he managed internal communications, stakeholder relationships, media relations, social responsibility, public affairs, and crisis management projects.
Francisco was born in São Paulo, Brazil. He holds a degree in Communication, with a specialization in Journalism, from the Catholic University of Santos. He is married, has two daughters, and enjoys playing tennis in his spare time. He is fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish.
